Patient guides

Patient guides

Clear, honest answers to the questions patients ask me most — from whether treatment hurts and the signs you might need a root canal, to how it's done under the microscope, why I use 3D scans, and how to care for your tooth afterwards.

Each guide is written in plain language, without the jargon — so you can read one before your appointment to know what to expect, or afterwards as a reminder. They reflect how I actually explain things to patients in the chair: honestly, and with your own natural tooth kept wherever it can be saved. Wherever it helps, the guides link across to related topics, so you can follow a question from one to the next — from the first signs that something is wrong, through what treatment actually involves, to looking after the tooth once it's done.

Can't find what you're looking for?

These guides cover the questions that come up most often, but every tooth — and every patient — is different. If something isn't answered here, or you'd like an honest assessment of your own tooth and the options for treating it, I'm always happy to help. Get in touch and I'll talk you through it, whether you've been referred by your own dentist or are arranging treatment yourself. And if you're a dentist with a question about a particular case, you're welcome to reach out too — a quick message over WhatsApp is often all it takes to get things moving.
